Hi,
My finches had eggs and one of them hatched a couple weeks ago. Today was the first time out of the nest and now it is able to fly around with its parents, i have 4 in the cage and this one is the fifth. One of my male finch is pulling at the baby's tail feathers and i don't know why. Is it agression?

Finches are high energy and must have a cage long enough that they can fly from one end to the other. For Finches, height is not nearly as important as length. If you have two of them cramped up in that small space, it's probably driving them nuts. They have no way to expend their energy and they are literally tearing their "hair" out. Tempers are probably pretty short between them by now. When you bring in new ones, please be sure that you keep them quarantined for a minimum of 30 days in a separate room and as far from your current birds as possible. With all due respect to your employer, this type of store is notorious for having sick birds. All too often they get their birds from questionable sources. But, if you work there, you may already know that. If there is currently any illness at all in the store, it would be a shame for you to end up with 4 sick birds instead of only two. I'm going to give you some links to more indepth Finch information. I'd urge you to bookmark the sites, study them when you have time, and even print it out for future reference. I hope this will be helpful to you but if you have more questions, just let me know. Best of luck with them. Patricia
