My cat is about 6 months old and has had diahrea for about 4 weeks now. I have went to the vet and got 1 de-worming pill and that hasnt help then he gave me some other pills to stop the condition. That hasn't helped either. I read somewhere that electrolytes are essential when diahrea occurs should I buy some pedialyte or gatorade? Also what else can I do to stop this?

Get some cat vitamins immediately. They're available in pet stores. Online, you can buy Vetri-Science's Nu-Cat Vitamins, about $13.00 for 240 tablets (dose 4 per day - 2 morning, 2 evening).

Take the cat back to the vet & have it checked for diabetes: the loose stool is a warning sign & it's very common in cats. Also have the vet make up a list of possible causes of diarrhea like your cat has & make sure all the causes have been eliminated.

Ask the vet what you should do to alleviate the loss of fluids until the cause is determined.

Did you change food brands recently? The cat may be allergic to it.

Feed the cat a homemade diet until the stool gets normal again.

HOME-MADE CAT FOOD RECIPE: 4 oz meat (boiled chicken or turkey/no skin or bones, pan-fried ground beef, or white fish filets) - 2 boiled eggs - 3 tbsp cooked rice or potato - 1 tbsp. mashed cooked carrot or canned pumpkin - 1 tbsp mashed green beans - 1 tbsp. cottage cheese - 1 tbsp. oil (sunflower, olive, or corn). Add 1 tsp kelp powder (available in health food stores & Vitamin Shoppe). Do not add any other spices or flavorings. Juice & fat from the cooked hamburger can be added to the mix.

Do not give a cat milk, cats are lactose-intolerant. If the cat likes milk, buy lactose-free milk.

Buy a Britta water filtering pitcher & filter the cat's drinking water (& your coffee-machine water) to eliminate city water additives; it may help. Use it if you have well water, too. Those things are amazing & the filters aren't expensive.

Gatorade is a remedy: it's mentioned on this website.

Hope this helps.
