I have a large black cat who is vet checked & neutered.I feed him a dry food (meow mix) plus a treat called Temptations. My problem is that he is constantly going to his food dish every time I move.I'm afraid I am going to make him overly fat if I keep feeding him constantly. His bowel movements and stool are regular although rather "solid"Should I just ignore his constant begging for food, set up a regular time for feeding ? He is a 24 hr. indoor cat.

Thank You

we keep our cats food in a closet and whenever they hear that closet open they come running... i think its just reflex, not that they are actually hungry... dont over feed, just because the cat thinks its hungry at that moment dosent mean it actually is... just like if you are not really that hungry but you smell something good and you want to eat it... just as long as the cats weight is ok... just keep an eye on it...

we feed ours a 1/4th a cup each a day. 1/8th at noon and 1/8th at midnight... but thats of innova evo with is nutritionally dense and is high protien, low grain... so thats good enough for them to maintain their weight... and we dont feed treats... usually their treat after nail clippings and stuff is to sprinkle cat nip on their scratching post and toys...
