Here's oen that will stump you. My cat is 6 years old. I have hand raised her from the time she was two days old. She is blind and was rejected by her mother. Having hand fed her at such a young age needless to say I am very attached to her, she is my baby literally. Here's the thing. I have known for many years now that she has allergies. She began to throw up all her food at a young age. The vet says it is allergies, gives her an allergy shot every 6 weeks. This doesnt help. She continues to throw up no matter what brand of cat food I give her. Ive tried them all, wet and dry. Recently she was roaming the house (which she does remarkably well since she is blind) Thinking nothing of her doing her usual daily house roam I went in to the kitchen to make dinner. She proceeded to eat my food when I went in to the other room to answer the phone. Now she turns her nose up at all cat food...no matter how many times I try to feed here. HOWVER...any people food she eats (shes gotten rather good at sneaking food) she doesnt thow up. I have been told that people food is not good for her, but it seems to be all she will eat now and all that she can tolerate. Any suggestions what I can do to help the throwing up and stop her from wanting only people food now?

Since she's so allergic to so many pet foods, & she's apparently figured out that people food doesn't make her sick, she sensibly is eating people food.

So, why not feed her a homemade diet? It's not hard. It won't hurt her if it's balanced, & she won't throw up. No fancy cooking is necessary. Any unusual supplements like kelp powder can be bought in the Vitamin Shoppe (etc.)

Attached is a link to an eHow page, giving basics on homemade cat food (skip Step 10, the cat doesn't need it).

Google "cats toxic food" to get a list of what not to feed the cat, & avoid them in her food.

Google "cat diet homemade" for websites & recipes. One that looks good is the 3d entry down at the "cat-care.suite101" domain. Also look for websites with recipes that veterinarians like.

Also give her kitty vitamins. I use Nu-Cat Vitamins (240 tablets for about $12.00 on the web, give her 4 per day, 2 each twice a day)

Note on cats & vegetables: Most cats like corn & green beans. I've used canned or frozen veggies, they work well.
