torn pad on paw

I have a cat whose pad on her back right paw was torn off and i think it might be getting infected and i need to know what to do? I do not have the money to take her to the vet right now so what can i do here at home for her?

If you think it's infected, you really really really should take her to the vet. If you can't afford medical care for your pets, you shouldn't have pets.
   
Make sure you keep her litter very clean (if you use a clumping litter you might consider switching to shredded newspaper or something similar temporarily to keep litter out of the wound, and if you can, try to gently wash the wound with an antibacterial soap. You can also use a bit of hydrogen peroxide diluted with water (1 part peroxide to 5 parts water) to clean the wound, but only do this ONCE as peroxide can cause tissue damage, and you could LIGHTLY apply an antibiotic cream like neosporin.
   
Watch for redness, swelling, or tenderness, or excessive warmth in the area. All of those things indicate a possible infection.

Neosporin & its generic copycats are very good for all infections in all mammals. (I used it on gerbils.) Get the cream form & put it on the pad twice a day until you get the cat to the vet.
   
The vet may take a stitch in the pad, or bandage the paw.
