My cat needs to lose weight

What are some exercises for cats. My cat could stand to lose a few pounds. Any suggestions?

Best way to put a cat on a diet:
   
Buy "light" (diet) food.
   
Cut the food to one-eighth cup of dry twice a day. If using canned, one-fourth cup of canned equals one-eighth dry. The cat will yell it's hungry, but it'll be fine. It'll take some time, but it'll work.
   
Give the cat vitamins. I recommend Nu-Cat Vitamins, available online for about $13.00 for 240 pills, dosage is 4 pills a day.
   
Build, buy or get a cat tower. Feed treats on top of the tower, so the cat is forced to climb for them.
   
Put the food up on an elevated place so the cat has to jump to get it.
   
Buy a laser-toy & have the cat chase it at least 10 minutes a day. Virtually all cats love those things. The pet stores have them.
   
Play chase-the-string all over the living room.
