Ok here is my situation. My wife and I have a female cat (yes she needs to be spayed and will be done so asap) who has never had kittens before, but managed to slip out once while in heat when we were moving furniture in the house for a few days. Anyways, a few days ago she started giving birth to the kittens, I was not here but my wife got home after the second kitten was born. No more kittens ever came out, and she and I are wondering if there could more in there?
The 2 that she had are looking great, theyre warm, happy and nursing or sleeping. The mama cat seems fine, but I just don't know. The first 2 were born Wednesday afternoon. Its now Friday morning 10 AM. I noticed the mama was uneasy and checked her in 'that area' and noticed what looked like a placenta that didnt make it out the other day. It was smaller and more solidified than they normally are, but it wasnt bloody or unusually gross, had no bad smell and once I removed it from her area back there, the area is now clean and dry and normal looking. I do not feel any babies in her, dead or alive. I could be wrong, but it feels like shes had them all. Could there be more inside? Is it normal for a placenta to come out like a day late? And is it normal for a cat to only have 2 kittens her first time?
She's acting fine, she stays with them, she's cleaning them and nursing them just as she should. She never leaves them, but she seems a little panty sometimes and flips around on her back alot. But is this normal? She doesnt always pant but it is warm in the laundry room where she is. But that is the safest place for her and the babies. Any help would be greatlt appreciated. Oh, and I havent seen her eat with my own eyes yet but she was down to only a few specks of food this morning and running low on water so I refreshed her bowl, so I assume she has somewhat of an appetite.
Im also wondering if a mama cat has ever squished the babies. It scares me thinking about her rolling over them when Im not in there with them.

yea its normal for a cat to have 2 kittens their first time, my cat only had one here first time. Sometimes all the placenta doesnt come out all at once. I think she'll do just fine, it seems that she is doin a great job so far as far as her rolling on them that shouldn't hurt them sometimes momma cats do that to keep them safe or warm! Hope this helps! sometimes its scary to have a cat that has kittens cause you don't ever know whats going to happen!
