we own two st. bernards and the other day, while on a walk they decided to get into a scuffle with a young boxer. the boxer did get some serious scrapes on it's hips and legs. the owner reported us to animal control. we were fined and the dogs are restricted for 10 days. the alpha is the trouble maker and I want to give him up, but my husband refuses. I was hurt in the scuffle and spent 3 hours in the emergency room. our 5 year old was knocked to the ground and he too was hurt, but not to the point I was. I've been trying to help my husband understand that his family is in danger, but he is still siding with the dogs. we are afraid of these dogs and will be forced to live in certain parts of the house. what can i do?

Hi there,
for starters if these were my dogs, I wouldn't let them off the lead when out on your daily walks so then you won't have the problem of what happened with the boxer.
Secondly, since you are quite worried about the aggressive behaviour of them and it's causing trouble in the house, I would have a recommended dog behaviourist help out as soon as possible before the situation could possibly get more out of hand.
Good luck :)

They were on LEADS and they're never allowed outside unless their on leads. They spotted the boxer before I could re-direct them and bolted towards the boxer.
We just finished behavorial training just three weeks ago, he flunked the course. We've gone through two separate programs for this dog.
I've been around animals my entire life and have dealt with alphas before, but nothing like this one. This is my third time dealing with this breed and the last alpha was a wuss compare to this one!
