My two dogs are beagles. One is a male, the other is female. They've been mating lately, and we think the female is pregnant. She has also been losing her hair on her back-end. We believe this is a cause of the two dogs mating. Is this correct? Or is it something we should be concerned about?

Please anser, we're desperate for answers.

It could be from the mating, it could be unrelated like mites or a flea allergy, or it could be from changing hormones that are causing hair loss now that she is pregnant.

But why on earth would you bring more dogs into the world when there are so many being euthanized. Especially if the hair loss is related, you're gonna be in for more health issues down the line.

Please have your dogs fixed. There aren't enough homes and we simply can't afford any more dogs in the community. Dogs can be spay/aborted even when pregnant. Which, if you talk to your vet, might be advisable anyway if there are going to be medical complications with her health from the pregnancy.
