Two years ago, a stray English Bull Terrier (PIggy)adopted our family. We felt she was a great addition to our family and she got along well with our dog, Sasha (Samoyed). About six months later, they got into a fight early in the morning. I was there to break it up. Since then, they seem to get into fights every six months or so. Sometimes their injuries are pretty serious and require stitches and visits to the vet. My husband and I are not always there to stop it. We have been careful about reinforcing the dominance of the Samoyed. But we are not sure which dog is starting these fights. The rest of the time, these dogs act like the best of friends, playing and sleeping together buddy-buddy. My husband is reluctant to give up either dog, though I told him last time that if it happens again, we have to get rid of one. I don't know what to do. Please help!

First of all, I hope you did everything possible to find the owners of the "stray". There are not an abundance of them around so its hard to believe no one was looking for him. Both dogs are neutered I would hope. Here is info from the bull terrier website. "If you don't want to deal with... Vigorous exercise requirements
Rowdiness, exuberant jumping, and a tendency to play rough
Destructiveness when bored or left alone too much
Aggression or fearfulness toward people in some lines, or when not socialized enough
Aggression toward other animals
Strong-willed mind of his own, requiring a confident owner who can take charge
Shedding
Serious health problems
Legal liabilities (public perception, future breed bans, insurance problems, increased chance of lawsuits)
An English Bull Terrier or Miniature Bull Terrier may not be right for you".
These dogs should be crated when you are not there.
The bully breeds are often not good with other dogs.

Are they both spayed? Female dogs go into heat [season] every 6-9 months [depending on the dog, & breed] and it sounds like the aggresion is coming from that. If they are both spayed then I'm not sure what to tell you....let me know, and I'll try to help you from there, and if they aren't spayed I'll elaborate on what I was talking about....THANKS!
