i made the mistake of feeding my dog people food now she's getting picky about that too. normally i feed her hot dogs & now she won't eat those. i have tried in the past buying several kinds of dry dog foods & canned dog foods. she'll eat a few bites then no more. i need to get her switched to dog food b/c it's getting too expensive with the people food. i don't know what kind of dog food to buy her. how do i go about doing this?

First, stop catering to your dog's whims.
Try the dog gravy products like Vita-Gravy; add it to her standard food. It may fool her.
You can also add a slice of the livid orange cheese food - all dogs seem to like it, buy the cheapest kind, the dog doesn't know - & nuke it lightly to melt the cheese into the food. (Alternately, Easy Cheese in a can can be mixed in.)
You may have to wait her out. Leave her food for 30 minutes. If she doesn't eat it, take it away for a couple of hours. Then return it.
She's a healthy, smart dog, & she's been jerking your chain. If you hold firm, she'll eat her dinner, because she has no choice.
Post again in a few days or a week & let us know if this works.

You need to stop giving in to her.
Take her for a good long run, get her appitite up so she will eat anything.
Get her what ever dog food you wish to feed her, there are loads of sites on the net for information about what food is best. Just do a google search for dog nutrition and read a few sites and decide for yourself.
And dont give in! If you do then you will make it even harder to break the cycle. She wont starve herself, but it may take a few days to a week before she is willing to give in, just make sure that she doesnt get anything else to eat and has water avaible to drink all the time.
