This is pack behavior. You're part of his pack, pack members nose each other & lick faces & groom, so that's what he does.
The best thing to do is to accept some grooming & then gently fend him away & scratch his ears. Make it a daily ritual.
He loves you & trusts you, that's why he's so willing to get so close.
