I have two cats one is at least 6 or 7 (male) (had him for 5 years) the other is 3ish (female) (Had her for 2 1/2 years) we just got a new pitbull puppy (female) two days ago only a few months old at first the cats just stayed away from her and slowly the younger one got closer and closer but would still hiss the larger one just started getting on the floor and semi close well one thing led to another and they all ended up trying to walk through the same door the younger cat attacked the puppy and my older cat in turn attacked the younger cat then the puppy ran the younger cat chased her attaching her and of course the older cat chased the younger cat attacking her and the puppy got stuck in the middle by the end of everything my two cats were FIGHTING (they have never fought in a mean and serious manner before and i have had them for 2 1/2 years together) i dont know what to do please help?? how do i get them use to the puppy im scared that if they dont get along before the puppy grows up that the "DOG" shes grows into will hurt my cats!!

Well i really wish you all of the luck in the world with your two kitties and the new puppy. I would suggest using feliway to help calm the kitties nerves and try re introducing the puppy to the cats. I listed a link below on proper introductions. Although i hate to say it a terrier is a hunter by nature and you must get this dog proper training.

Pitbulls are great dogs and easy to train. They are smart and intelligent and will do ANYTHING to make daddy happy. Start young. Start training him now (even in basic training, an older dog is harder to train than an younger puppy.) If you notice ANY behavior towards the cats you don't like give him a firm "NO!." Don't yell or hit him just say no. Also make sure from an early age he knows that the cats are HIGHER on in the pack hierarchy than him. Dogs like pack situations always make yourself the pack leader. Have a room lets say the kitchen that the cats can go into but doggy is not allowed. That will work out both ways for your animals. Your cats have a safe room to get away from doggy and be away from him (they are fighting out of stress of the new animal but will calm down.) and Doggy will see that they are higher than them. Also feed your cats first before the doggy. Make sure doggy can see that they get fed first if he tries to sniff the food or take it tell him NO. Then let your cats start eating and THEN feed doggy. This will reinforce in his mind the pack and he will know that the cats are not food or toys but valid and valuable members of the pack and you are the leader. When he gets older even if they all do not become friends he will at least respect your cats and give them space and not hurt them. Hope that helps.
