We have a rabbit that my daughter won in a game at a local fair. We've had it almost a year now, and the vet had suggested that we get him 'fixed' to help with the spraying when he urinates. She also suggested that it is possible to declaw rabbits if we wanted. She priced us a "special" price for only declawing the front 2 paws, or all four. Is there anyone out there that has done this to their rabbit? My daughter loves to hold this bunny, but her arms are all scratched up, and just trimming the nails don't seem to help. Should I declaw the front two paws, or just not let my daughter hold him as much? Help? We love this rabbit but don't want to put it thru all this pain if it's not something that should be done.

I have never heard of a bunny needing to be declawed, and it is EXCEEDINGLY painful for any animal to be declawed. My rat's claws scratch my skin too, so I just make a point to wear a long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt when I handle them.

understand that declawing is not just taking off the claw but the bone is cut at the first knuckle. It is excruciatingly painful & a barbaric practice. There is no benefit to the animal & often impedes their natural actions.
