Tonight will be the five week anniversary of Lightyear, my wonderful beagle, passing.
Her death was very sudden and unexpected...she was only 9 and apparently healthy.
I did everything in my power to save her and she died right in my arms in the middle of the kitchen floor.
I am still haunted by the moments before she passed and I still find myself going through my routine as if she were here, like coming in through the back door instead of the garage, etc.
I sometimes still get that realization that she isn't coming back.
I miss her like crazy and my house feels so empty.
And no, it's not time for another dog.....

I am so sorry .I know really how it feels to lose you best friend.I lost 5 dogs all in the same year form old age and cancer for one and one just wouldn't eat when her friend died. The vet said oh she will eat wneh she is hungry,it was 2 weeks, and she died at the vets.To make matters worse I lost 35 cats that same year of being poisoned by water from my well.So I know what your going through.I wish i could say with time it gets easy,It doesn't,its been 8 years for me and I still can't look at their pictures.

You will grieve for a long, long time my friend, that's just the way it is. When my dog Natasha died, I couldn't even go to work. I had to take some time off. I could not answer questions, type, answer my phone, or do anything that required me to be at the workplace. No, don't get another dog until you are ready. You need to feel the loss of Lightyear until you can't stand it anymore and then you still cry. It is a long, long process. May God give you strength to keep going.
