With an animal like a snake or frog, you may feed them live mice. If I capture a mouse in my home, is it safe to feed that mouse to a domestic reptile or amphibian? Is there any difference between feeding it a mouse you may buy at the pet store and a wild mouse?

Wild mice carry diseases and parasites.. I would not reccommend it, because it could make the reptile sick and/or kill it.

I would never feed any live mice or rodents or anything else like that simply because it is not nessisary and could cause harm to your pet.

Think of it this way:

In the wild a snake will sneak attack a mouse or what ever and it wont have a chance to fight back at all.

But in an tank or cage this mouse will see the snake, plus will be scared and ready to fight or flight from having being handled by the human and so may sink its sharp and often large dirty teeth into your snake. This can be very painful and often result in infections and then death.

I also know a hampster who escaped from his cage and killed the owners 3 1/2 year old black rat snake. The owner was a friend off mine and was extreamly surprised.
