2 days ago 13 y/o beagle fell while trying to jump up to a sofa bed. He walked a few paces then laid down and would not move for hours. The following day was a vet visit. Vet said he was just old and went through a traumatic injury. Gave him a pain shot there and some pain pills for later. Now he won't eat, and when he drinks he vomits the water with yellow bile. He does walk a little bit now. No urine output for 24 hours now.

sounds like the dog hurt his/her neck or back. I have seen alot of neck injuries(disc) at the vets office I worked for. You should of been told total cage rest, use the meds, only go out for potty and back in. YOur dog probably is in pain and out of it with the meds which causes low appitite. Keep trying to hand feed and offer water through the day. Make some ground chicken and brown rice to see if that will stimulate the apetite. But keep offering water. Is he/she doesn't drink then get a syringe or dropper and drop some pedialite in your dogs mouth every so often. If they don't eat or drink then they don't go to the bathroom. All that causes other problems so is this lasts for more than two days go back to the vet. Sounds like you need a different vet! You should of been told of these problems and what you needed to do to help your animal. They didn't do xrays?? Some vets don't take the time to actually help the owner help their animal. If you can go for a second opinion. Good luck! Unless there were other health factors previously, 13 is not death bed for a beagle so your vet should be more sympathetic. good luck and keep us informed! and total rest for the dog. crate him/her if you have one. This is one way to help heal a back and neck problem.

Thankyou for the info. He was able to keep some fluids down today and even urinated. No luck with food yet though. Thanks again!
