hamster Gender & names

I nearly got Guinea pigs but in a weeks time I am getting a hamster...
   
I was just wondering which Gender is the best, Male or Female?
   
My dad told me to get another boy, but all my furry pets I've had has been boys, Harry the Hamster and Toby The Chinchilla..
   
Also do you have any ideas of names? I'm hoping to get a Teddy bear hamster,(Long Haired Syrain) but what are dwarf hamsters like? And can they be kept in a pink palace rotastak cage? (A picture is Posted below of the cage I have.. Which is freindlier and easier to handle, Syrains or Dwarfs? Thanks any help with these questions will be highly appreciated..
