I am 21 years old and I have allergies that prevent me from having a pet. I am upset about this and I have always wanted a pet. I have had more fish than I can count but fish are rather boring after a while. Do you have any suggestions for a pet for me? (I was looking at lizard but my roommate will not allow live bugs to be kept in the house to feed it). (Morgan - Winnipeg, Canada)
There are many other kind of pets which are worth considering. My favorite would stick insects (which are often very attractive so may be agreeable to your roommate). Have you considered a tortoise? For this you would need access to a garden. Caecilians are worm-like amphibians which are unfamiliar to most people. And how about a salamander?
