Reader's Comments on the Boxer Dog

We recently lost our 11 year old boxer. I've owned many breeds throughout my childhood and adult life and I must say this was by far the most rewarding. Note, THEY ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE as they are a high energy level dog - mixed with intelligence, they can get into much mischief if they aren't given enough exercise, mental stimulation, and training. Our boxer was extremely freindly and extremely protective of our family, especially our 2 children. There were very few people she didn't trust but I knew if she didn't trust them then I shouldn't. PHENOMINAL WITH CHILDREN...We had our boxer before children and she welcomed them as if they were her own kids. Never ever showed any aggression, even when her ears or jowels were pulled on. She stayed true to her temperment to the end, even in old age. I trusted this dog with my children more than I trusted other people. We have tons of stories on how she watched over our family, including instinctively positioning herself between our fireplace and our baby as he crawled on the floor. Loyal, trustworthy, protective, funny, and extremely loving. I can't say enough about this breed.
