I agree with Elizabeth on height as even the crossed horses can be tall. My Friesian is a registered Warmblood/Friesian Cross and stands 17 hands and weighs 1450lbs. they are very bright and willing. Fabulous on the trail as well. If you love the breed and cannot afford one then look at cross breeds .

These are very high maintenance horses. The only time you can ever find a Friesian under 15.2hh it must be a cross breed because most of the time they are15.3+. They are also used for dressage, jumping, and they used to be used for ranch work. They are very good beginner horses because most of them are what's called "Bombproof" which means that anyone can ride them. They are very loyal like the Arabian and have very good temperaments. They are especially good for show, they are extremely smart and learn fast.

We just purchased 2 Friesian colts, they just turned 1yr old each in April....this breed is just so magical.... my guys are total opposites in style & temperament.... will enjoy watching them grow &n develop while we decide on showing with carriage, or under saddle or they just take your breath away with their beauty......

The Friesians are such a majestic breed, they can truly take your breath away. We own and raise Friesians. They love people and attention, and are really quite the characters. Friesians have a very powerful trot and are a thrill to ride. Hopefully we will also be driving them soon!

I saw Friesen for the first time in Germany where they are used for dressage, driving and gelaendereiten (trail riding). They are beautiful horses with excellent temperaments; very athletic, particularly for their size; generally very calm; altogether very impressive horses. Many people think the Morgan foundation stallion (Justin Morgan) had a dam that was a Friesen and they have similar characteristics in many ways. I would definitely recommend someone considering a Friesen if they want a very large horse for driving and trail riding.
