Archie was the light of our lives. I was never a big dog person until he came into my life in 2005. My boyfriend jokes that meeting him was the "test" that would make him keep dating me or not. He never left his spot on the bed, conveniently, right under my feet. However, now I have an empty spot and cold feet.
He loved the mountains and you could hardly keep him in the car once he got a whiff of the great white pines. He saved me from a skunk in the outhouse once too! He followed my daughter and her friends where-ever they went and stood guard like a sphinx while they played. He was also a nut for mousing and liked to follow his nose. True to his heritage though, he also loved to run. This was his demise as he was run down by a car on a dark, rainy night of November 11th 2009. To my former Marine boyfriends chagrin it was also the USMC birthday. He was buried among the pines in the mountains he loved. We love you Archie and will never forget you.
